On 27 August 2026, Pambak Community Aldermen's Council, during its extraordinary session, discussed and gave preliminary approval to a proposal to conduct geological exploration in the area of Hanqadzor mineral field, located within the community’s administrative boundaries, with the aim of identifying mineralisation of industrial significance.
The issue was presented by Pambak Community Head Suren Kostandyan. According to the minutes of the session, the discussion was based on a letter submitted by Bariba LLC on 7 July 2026.
The draft decision, entitled “On Granting Preliminary Approval for Geological Exploration in the Area of Hanqadzor Mineral Field for the Purpose of Identifying Mineralisation of Industrial Significance,” was presented by the community head, who noted that the results of the public hearings held on 11 August 2026 in the settlements of Yeghegnut, Debed and Vahagni in Pambak Community had also been taken into account. The minutes and video recordings of those hearings were considered as part of the discussion.
As a result of the vote on the draft decision, 10 council members voted in favour, none voted against, and two abstained.
