On April 6 Fortune Oil Chinese Company met Kotayk Regional Head Kavalenko Shahgeldyan and Hrazdan Mayor Aram Danielyan. Hrazdan Aarhus Center Anahit Mnacakanyan told EcoLur about this. Under her, this was not an official meeting where all the time the Chinese pointed out at the fact the transaction was signed with the Government of Armenia. We speak about Chinese company’s purchase of the assets of three iron mines in Armenia – Hrazdan, Abovyan and Svarants.
The price of this transaction is 24 million USD, which were paid by company owners, later the Chinese bought this company’s shares. Company owners are Suren Ayvazyan, National Assembly Committee on Economic Issues Chairman Vardan Ayvazyan’s son (who is ex Nature Protection Minister) and National Assembly Deputy Tigran Arzaqantzyan. “For them the most decisive factor is the government and not the public,” said Aarhus Center Coordinator. She also said the Chinese were surprised with the circumstance the mine is located next to water resources, Hrazdan Reservoir.
In 2012 the Chinese Company intends to proceed to plant construction.
