2382 Meghri residents out of 5000 have opposed to the conduction of geoprospecting and further development of mines via s signature collection, as www.meghrinews.com website says. The signature collection is carried out with the initiative of “Sustainable Development” NGO and with the support of “Meghri Women’s Resource Center” and “Against Legal Arbitrariness” NGOs. On the basis of this signature collection “Sustainable Development” NGO President Armen Parsadanyan has addressed an open letter to RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, which particularly says, “…Guided by fundamental human rights to life and health, as well as signature collection outcomes, we demand to take urgent measures to stop geoprospecting and mine development in the area and to suspend the licenses issued to the given companies.”
