Today the strange activity around the mine worried the residents of Hrazdan town. The members of the initiative group against the exploitation of the mine decided to visit the site to find out what was happening.
They learned that the site is being dug by machines to take samples.
According to an agreement between the government and Fortune Oil, a Chinese company which will exploit the mine, the Company hired SRK Consulting for an independent examination for 200,000 dollars. The representative of SRK Consulting, a Russian expert, said the air and water basins will be examined, as well as the soil, after the study they will evaluate the possible environmental impact.
The mayor of Hrazdan says the main problem is water pollution which the mine will cause. After the examination and the evaluation public debates will be held which the people of Hrazdan have been waiting for a long time. They see their future in the haze.
