In Hrazdan, while a number of people support the initiative fighting against exploitation of mines, others think it makes no difference whether they will die from hunger or polluted air. If they die from pollution, they will at least know they have a job and can support their families.
Movses Manukyan, a member of the initiative fighting against exploitation of mines, says the jobs re exaggerated. According to him, the Chinese company will create only 500 jobs, as well as the experience of Chinese companies operating in Armenia shows they usually hire Chinese people from China. The local staff will be limited to 100-200 people who will work for only 10-15 years, while in the result of ecological problems caused by exploitation of mines half of the current 1500 jobs only in the resort town of Tsakhkadzor will be lost, says Movses Manukyan.
