On 3 October, at 12:00, the public discussion of Martz-Prvashen-Budaghidzor gold-polymetallic mining field project submitted by “Victoria Silver” LLC will be held at Lori Regional Municipality.

Martz-Prvashen-Budaghidzor gold-polymetallic mine demonstration is located in Tumanyan area, Lori Region, on the right slope of Martz river valley and occupies 830 ha area. The center is located in a distance of 5 km from Martz village and in a distance of 2.5 km from Lorut Village.

The exploration area is covered with forests. Under the project, tree felling won’t be carried out during exploration works, but the question is whether these forests will be preserved, if mining is considered to be profitable as a result of geoprospecting.

The animal species listed in the project, Armenian Viper (Vipera raddei) (http://www.mnp.am/red_book_fauna/index.htm) and V. erivanensis http://www.mnp.am/red_book_fauna/index.htm,http://www.mnp.am/red_book_fauna/index.htm), are red-listed in Armenia, but the project doesn’t say anything about it. Article 26 of RA Code on Subsoil bans mining in the habitats of red-listed species, as well as in migration corridors.
