"Dundee Precious Metals Kapan" CJSC intends to significantly increase the capacity of Geghanush tailing dump. The public hearings on the increase in general static resistance of the northern dam of Geghanush tailing dump will be held on 23 September in Kapan Regional Municipality. The total capacity of the tailing dump will make up 11.37 million cum instead of current 8.7 million cum.
In 2009 the dam of the tailing dump damaged because of Geghanush river floods thus causing great damage to environment.
According to the opinion of “National Bureau of Expertise” SNCO, the construction of Geghanush tailing dump has been implemented not relevant with the project documents and assignments. The aqueduct of the Geghanush tailing dump has also been constructed with project deviations.
