'Gharagyulyanner' LLC intends to develop Verin Vardanidzor gold and polymetallic mine. This mine is one of the mines in Meghri area, when still in 2013 Meghri residents opposed to the development and geoprospecting works and beat an alarm signal to the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan about the heavy consequences of the mining in the area. 'Such an environmental attack on such a strategic land area as Meghri areas is bears enormous disastrous consequences: the orchards established due to diligent work of Meghri residents and amazing climate conditions now threaten hazard of elimination,' Meghri residents' letter addressed to the Armenian President says. Moreover, besides the letter, over 2382 Meghri residents expressed their resistance to the mining implemented in Meghri through signature collection (Meghri area has over 5000 residents). In only 3 years after Meghri residents' complaint, currently 'Gharagyulyanner' LLC has submitted claims on undergoing Verin Vardanidzor gold-polymetallic central area section and geological prospecting of Verin Vardanidzor mine field for 2016-2019 to environmental expertise.
