'Armenian Company for Oil and Gas' LLC intends to carry out geological prospecting for oil and natural gas in the first and third conditional blocks of the territory of Armenia – 8775 km2 in Shirak, Lori, Tavush Regions. The area includes a number of specifically protected areas of nature – 'Arpi Litch' and 'Dilijan' National Parks, Mrtavardeni, Zikatar, Gyulagarak, Ijevan, Margahovit, Gandzaqar, Hanqavan hydrological reserves, Akhnabad Taxus Grove Sanctuary and Getik Sanctuary, which have rich flora and fauna, including red-listed ones.
The project-impacted communities are 43: According to the project submitted for environmental impact assessment by the company, the technology of the works enables not felling down the forest cover, so there won't be any negative impact on the environmental components.
The public hearings of this project are appointed to be held at Shirak Regional Municipality at 11:00 on 4 December, at 16:00 at Lori Regional Municipality on the same day and at 11:00 on 5 December at Tavush Regional Municipality.
'Armenian Company for Oil and Gas' LLC has been established by 'Energo Invest Holding' CJSC in October 2017. The only shareholder of 'Energo Invest Holding' CJSC is 'Hrazdan Energy Organization' OJSC, which is 100% owned by 'Tashir Capital' CJSC.
