STATE-OF-THE-ART GOLD MINING TECHNOLOGY TO BE APPLIED IN ARMENIA

The GeoProMiningGold Company, which is part of the GeoProMining Group and manager of the Sotk goldfield in Ararat, plans to introduce a state-of-the-art gold-mining and processing technology.

At a press conference in Yerevan, Oct. 29, GeoProMining President Roman Khudoley stated the Albion technology will be employed. He pointed out that no enterprise in the world is employing this technology now. The first such enterprise is under construction in the Dominican Republic, and the second in Armenia. This state-of-the-art technology enables recovery of metals from any heavy ore. Heavy ore constitutes a large percentage in the Sotk goldfield, and the Albion technology will enhance the goldfield efficiency. Khudoley reported that the Sotk gold reserves are estimated at 5 million ounces. Both surface and underground mining technologies are applied at the Sotk goldfield.

Investments are total U.S. \$ 100 millions. The Xstrata technօlogy will assist with a feasibility report, while the Core resources company will supply equipment.

The Epoch Company will carry out reinforcement work at tailing dumps. The Ararat enterprise is to start operating in 2013. The authors of the program give assurances that the technology does not pose any environmental risks.

GeoProMining First Vice-President, Dmitry Kalandadze said that the company meets the environmental requirements in effect in Armenia and other countries. He pointed out the company declined a number of advantageous offers, which did not meet the strict environmental requirements.
