The transaction between Chinese “Fortune Oil” Company and Armenian “Iron” companies was approved at top level and the official meeting between “Fortune Oil” company representatives and PM Tigran Sargsyan in the government building of Armenia witnesses this. The official information is sparing of details. As you can see in the published photos, the meeting was held in pleasant setting. Everyboduy is smiling, even the National Assembly Standing Committee On economic issues Chairman and Nature Protection Ex Minister Vardan Ayvazyan, who, under some information, is the owner of iron companies.
He is probable smiling because he got rid of a headache throwing it over the Chinese. Reminder: Hrazdan Town residents (“iron” mountain is located nearby) started protesting against opencast development of Hrazdan Mine and “Nagin” Construction Company and collected signatures against. In the course of public campaign against “Nagin”, the Aarhus Center in Hrazdan detected violations in the project regarding environmental impact assessment by the Environmental Expert Assessment of Nature protection Ministry, as well as in the environmental impact assessment part of the company submitted data that don’t comply with reality. Thus, “Nagin” Company’s activity that should have started in 2009, hasn’t started so far, and the mountain with iron reserves still remains untouched. By the way, according to Hrachya Avagyan, author of “Ore-Raw material Resources in Armenia” monograph, besides 161,120,000 tons of pure iron, the mine has zirconium - 1160 tons, gallium – 497 tons, silver - 124 tons, nickel – 387 tons, cobalt - 7,628 tons, copper – 11,553 tons, zinc – 2,225 tons and lead – 857 tons.
