The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) will sign a contract with "Rusatom Service" JSC in the amount of up to 65 million USD for the lifetime extension of the second power unit. The Armenian government approved the decision to sign the contract at the session of December 14, 2023.

According to the rationale of the resolution, the financing of the project is planned to be carried out with the funds of the budget loan to be provided to "ANPP" CJSC, and the contract will be signed in the format of purchase from one person.

According to this resolution, to obtain a new license for the further operation of ANPP from RA Nuclear Safety Regulation Committee, the measures must be implemented during 2023-2026.

About 160 million USD will be needed to double the lifetime of the second power unit of ANPP, for which a loan will be taken from RA state budget. To repay the loan, it is planned to increase the tariff of the sold electricity.
