“The Armenian nuclear power unit is under daily control of the IAEA. If any problem arises with safety, naturally we can not to use the power unit, and what about different country representatives’ concern with the safety of the new power unit, we explained many times we are going to use the best technologies. That is, first of all, technologies are connected with safety. What about advice and proposals by some countries to refuse from nuclear energy I don’t think even the events in Japan may lead to this. Armenia won’t refuse from nuclear energy, and it should be taken into consideration that problems emerged at Japanese “Fukushima” plant are the result of the tsunami, and not the earthquake. Besides, our nuclear power plant already passed the examination for durability during the quake of 1988 and had good results. Thirdly, Turkey currently intends to construct several power units and the technologies proposed by the Russian party to Turkey are technologies corresponding to the same Armenian scheme. In that case why Turkey wants to construct a nuclear power plant with the similar scheme,” said Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan to News.am.
