Online Conference Dedicated to Publication of Second EITI National Report in Armenia Held

On September 14, 2020, an online conference dedicated to the presentation of the Second EITI Report of Armenia was held with the participation of representatives of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, mining companies, civil society, the International Secretariat of the EITI, and international partner organizations.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of RA EITI MSG Tigran Avinyan sent a welcoming message to the conference noting that “The Government of Armenia considers that the implementation of EITI requirements in our country promotes the transparency of public administration, the involvement of civil society, the fight against corruption."

In the first part of the online conference, the Independent Administrator, EY Auditing Company, briefly presented the. report of the EITI of Armenia developed in accordance with the requirements of the EITI 2019 standard, the description of the metal mining sector of Armenia, the findings of the report and its recommendations.

Public reports have been submitted by state bodies and mining companies, on the basis of which the EITI National Report provides comprehensive information on the payments made by metal mining companies, mineral extraction, production, domestic sales, exports, and the revenue received by the state from mining sector and their distribution.

During the conference, with the participation of other speakers of the multi-stakeholder group of the EITI of Armenia, a discussion on the EITI mining industry took place, which was attended by Kirsten Hund - Sr. Mining Specialist with the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank, Lilia Shushanyan - Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Arthur Manukyan - Deputy Chairman of State Revenue Committee, and from the civil society faction Victoria Burnazyan - the expert of  "EcoLur"   Informational NGO.
