On May 25, water intake from Lake Sevan for the irrigation of Ararat Valley launched. As of June 7, 24,158 million cubic meters of water were released from the lake. During the water intake, as of June 8, the level of the lake rose by 3 cm, from 1900.89 m to 1900.91 m. As Karen Daghbashyan, Deputy Chairman of Water Committee of RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, said during the expert roundtable on "Institutional Management of Water Resources in the Light of Climate Policy" held at EcoLur Press Club in March, the Water Committee will try not to draw more than 170 million cubic meters. It should be noted that the volume of 170 million cubic meters is the maximum statutory limit of water intake from Lake Sevan. Since the beginning of the year, 115,107 million cubic meters of water have flowed into Lake Sevan through Arpa-Sevan tunnel.
