Armenian experts visited the Kola nuclear power plant (Murmansk region, Russia) to get acquainted with the attempt to double the service life of VVYR-440 power units. This practice is currently being studied in Armenia.
Last year, the Armenian NPP is working on the modernization of the second power unit in order to extend the operation of the plant until 2026. However, today preliminary calculations have been made, according to which the plant can be operated for another 10 years. Therefore, the experience of extending the life of the Kola NPP units is useful for Armenia.
