New Legislative Initiatives and "EU4Sevan" Project Operations Discussed at Meeting Lake Sevan Preservation Expert Committee of NAS RA

Expert Committee of Lake Sevan Preservation of NAS RA headed by the newly elected chairman Bardukh Gabrielyan, Director of Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, this year held a regular meeting on February 25. He replaced Yuri Javadyan in this office, General Director of "Armwater Project Institute" CJSC.

The participants of the meeting were as follows: Academician-Secretary of Department of Natural Sciences of NAS RA, Corresponding Member of NAS RA Ruben Harutyunyan, Khachatur Meliksetyan, Director of Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS RA, was elected Deputy Chairman of Expert Committee of Lake Sevan. The Committee consists of Georgy Fayvush, Head of Department of Geobiology and Ecological Physiology of Institute of Botany of NAS RA, Deputy Scientific Director of Institute of Informatics and Automation Problems of NAS RA and Head of Computer and Information Networks Department Vladimir Sahakyan, Alexander Arakelyan, researcher at Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS RA, specialist in GIS, engineer-hydrologist, PhD in  technical sciences Alexey Tarverdyan, and hydrologist Ofelia Grigoryan, as well as Artashes Mirzoyan, researcher at Institute of Informatics and Automation Problems of NAS RA.

The new draft laws and the works of "EU4Sevan" project were discussed at the meeting: Academician-Secretary of Department of Natural Sciences of NAS RA Ruben Harutyunyan mentioned the necessity of conducting biological monitoring of waters in Armenia. Bardukh Gabrielyan, Chairman of Expert Committee of Lake Sevan Preservation of NAS RA, agreed with that point of view. Vladimir Sahakyan, Alexander Arakelyan, researcher at Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS RA, raised the issue of creating a database.
