1.4 Billion AMD in Damage to the State: EPMIB Uncovers 81 Cases of Illegal Soil Management
In 2026, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) identified 81 cases of illegal subsoil use and concealment of extracted volumes as a result of inspections and other enforcement activities. The monitoring was carried out, among other methods, through the use of digital tools and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
 
According to EPMIB data, 24 of the 81 cases were identified during inspections of companies holding subsoil-use permits, while 57 cases were uncovered within the framework of administrative proceedings initiated by the Inspection Body on its own initiative.
 
In the identified cases, the volume of illegally extracted and concealed non-metallic mineral resources amounted to 3,884,321.8 cubic meters.
 
In the 57 cases alone, the Inspection Body calculated environmental damage at 254.9 million AMD.
 
For all recorded cases, reports concerning apparent criminal offenses were submitted to law enforcement authorities for further action.
 
At the same time, based on the recorded volumes, RA State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia calculated the damage caused to the state at 1,395,393,017 AMD.
