As the Information and Public Relations Department of Nature Protection Ministry informs on September 15, 2015 in the Environmental Protection of International River Basins (EPIRB) project the launch of the new groundwater monitoring well, equipped with modern electronic devices was held in the Aknashen village of Ararat valley of Armenia. It aimed to assist the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia to address the problem of artesian groundwater depletion in Ararat valley through refurbishment of the groundwater monitoring in the basin. Improved monitoring will help to collect more accurate information on the level of over-exploitation and at the same time improve decision-making on water allocation.
