According to the arrangements of Nature Protection Ministry of Armenia and German KfW Bank, “Lake Arpi” National Park will continue till October 2014. The project plans to carry out a program aimed at improving the supply of drinking water to 11 communities, development of animal breeding and holding seminars aiming to upgrade professional abilities. German KfW Bank also supports “Establishing biospheric area in Syunik Region” project costing 8.25 million Euros with a duration of five years.
The establishment of “Lake Arpi” National Park is supported by German KfW Bank, which simultaneously funds the construction of SHPPs in the territory of the park. That is, it provides funding both to the preservation and destruction of the ecosystem of “Lake Arpi” National Park.
The union of several specially protected areas into one biospheric complex, which doesn’t have a certain status and legal grounds will pose hazard to the conservation of “Shikahogh” reserve regime and may turn into a titbit for high appetites, as it was observed earlier.
Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan touched upon the establishment of a biospheric complex in Syunik Region during his final press conference and noted these works will be continued in 2014 as well.
