On December 26, 2024, a roundtable discussion titled "Energy-Efficient Programs Implemented and Planned in Yerevan" took place at Yerevan Municipality. The event was organized by Office for Implementation of Investment Programs in Yerevan Construction and EcoLur Informational NGO.
The purpose of the meeting was to present and discuss the energy-efficient solutions for newly built and renovated kindergartens in the framework of "Yerevan Energy Efficiency Program", identify challenges, and hear stakeholder suggestions. These inputs aim to be considered during the energy-efficient renovation of kindergartens selected for the next phase of the program.
The roundtable discussion was attended by Aneta Babayan, Director of Office for Implementation of Investment Programs in Yerevan Construction, and Meri Harutyunyan, Deputy Director, the program implementation team focused on energy efficiency from the same office, Vahagn Atayan, Energy Manager of Yerevan, Armine Gabrielyan, Chief Specialist of General Education Department of Yerevan Municipality, directors and representatives from 15 kindergartens in the capital, Inga Zarafyan, President of EcoLur Informational NGO, and Victoria Burnazyan, Deputy President, journalists Monika Yeritsyan and Kristina Ter-Matevosyan.
"To move to the next phase and ensure the program’s continuity, your feedback is extremely important: how the project was implemented, the results achieved, and most importantly, what challenges you see. For me, the comfort of our stakeholders is paramount because this is their environment, and we are the structures responsible for ensuring it," Aneta Babayan noted.
"Our goal is to collect feedback from stakeholders involved in the first phase of Yerevan Energy Efficiency Program so that we can consider it during the next phase, which includes the construction and renovation of 32 new kindergartens," Meri Harutyunyan added.
"There is no program that is perfect or free of challenges. I can say that energy-saving and energy-efficient programs are among the most successful ones, offering good solutions," Inga Zarafyan noted.
Meri Harutyunyan presented both completed and planned energy-efficiency projects in Yerevan, while Energy Manager Vahagn Atayan shared numerical data. During the discussion, kindergarten directors raised design and other issues and provided suggestions.
Further details will be shared in the upcoming publications by EcoLur.
