In 2010-2013 the total area of the protected areas in Armenia increased by 76,300 ha. At present the total area of the specially protected areas is about 380,000 ha, which makes up around 12.8% of the republic territory, as Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan reported at the consultation with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held at Nature Protection Ministry on 5 December.
