“Responsible Mining” International Conference and “Irresponsible Mining” Alternative Conference

Public activists have decided to hold “Responsible Mining” alternative conference in parallel with “Irresponsible Mining in Mining: Opportunities and Challenges”. The alternative conference will present the factual picture of the mining in Armenia, when, who and how pollutes our rivers, soil and products, promotes environmental emigration impoverishment of main population.

On March 24, at 11:00 a.m., “Teghout Support” and “Pan-Armenian Environmental Front” public initiative representatives Lena Nazaryan and Levon Galstyan will present the reasons for holding this event and will speak about some details of the alternative conference at EcoLur Press Club (Hanrapetutyan 49). Dr. in Geological Sciences Hrachya avagyan, Senior Specialist at Institute of Economics of NAS RA, will present the economic and environmental assessment of Armenian tailing dumps.

Reminder: the international conference will be held in Yerevan on 25-26 March organized by the Armenian government with the support of the World Bank, EBRD, US, UK and German Embassies, Canadian Government, as well as mining companies.
