“Save Sevan” initiative members Liana Asoyan, “Blejan” NGO Chairman, “Territorial Development and Research Center” NGO representative Satenik Badeyan, Public Environmental Alliance Coordinator Silva Adamyan and “EcoLur” Informational NGO President Inga Zarafyan called to join the march “Save Sevan” at the press conference held at EcoLur Press Club on 18 April.
The march will begin at 12:00 on 25 April from the oval square of Sevan Town, Gegharkounik Region, in the direction of Secan-Hrazdan canal across Sevan-yerevan highway. The protest demonstration will continue in Yerevan at 11:00 on 28 April in front of the National Assembly.
“It’s impermissible to let out 240 million cubic meters of water from Lake Sevan for five years. We are ready for rough measures to eventually make the voice of our public heard in this country,” Silva Adamyan said.
The population of Gegharkounik region and public are also concerned with these governmental decisions. According to Liana Asoyan, people even have doubts that everything concerned with programs is done hastily to accelerate processes.
“Let’s not forget that besides being a strategic reserve of freshwater, Sevan also has great energetic value. We don’t have any guarantee that a new war doesn’t jeopardize us. What will we do then, if we waste the water of Lake Sevan in such manner,” Satenik Badeyan said.
