The small hydro power plant on the Argitchi River caused a clash between two companies, “Zangezour Eximp” LLC and “Hydrocorporation” CJSC. As it turned out both companies independently are carrying out construction works for a small hydropower plant on the same river.
In his interview with our correspondent, the Head of “Hydrocorporation” Ashot Sargsyan said the company was issued a permit for a small hydropower plant construction still in 2004. Under the project, the hydropower plant will be located in Gegharkounik Region in the administrative territories of Madina and Verin Getashen Communities. In contrast to “Zangezour Eximp” LLC, “Hydrocorporation” doesn’t intend to change the Argitchi riverbed. Thus, the river will keep on flowing into Lake Sevan.
