Environment Minister: “There are Two Main Objectives – To Collect Overdues Maximally and To Free Lake Sevan Littoral Areas from Illegal Buildings and Structures”

During the meeting held on January 29, Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan was presented with issues related to the inventory of buildings on the shores of Lake Sevan, the provision of their lease rights and the dismantling of illegal buildings. The Minister stressed that the rescue of Sevan is a matter of pan-Armenian significance. "There are two main goals - to collect the overdues as much as possible, to free the littoral areas of Lake Sevan from illegal buildings and structures.

“We won’t give in even for a second when taking surgical steps to restore the ecosystem of Lake Sevan. Starting from February 1, the processes aimed at solving the problems inventoried in Lake Sevan and eliminating the registered irregularities, including the technical re-equipment of Sevan National Park, will be launched, which will serve the most important goal of freeing the shore of the lake from illegal structures," he said.

There are 915 state-registered contracts for "granting the right to site development on a state-owned land area" and "land lease" in "Sevan National Park" SNCO. Accounts receivable under the mentioned contracts constitute 209,542,091 AMD as of January 8, 2021. At present, there are 32 lawsuits in the amount of 43,845,466 AMD in the claim for unilateral early termination of the contract and damages.

The writs of execution of 22 court acts in the amount of 36,224,214 AMD subject to confiscation, which came into legal force, were submitted to Law Enforcement Body.
