

On September 15, 2023, within the framework of the "Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" - EU4Sevan project jointly funded by the European Union and the German government, a roundtable discussion dedicated to the development of the Lake Sevan Section of Armenian EcoPortal was held in the GIZ conference hall.
Within the framework of the meeting, the goals and objectives of the improvement of the EcoPortal, the planned components and data flows of its Lake Sevan section, the interactive map proposed were presented, and the issues of ensuring the data flows of the Lake Sevan section of the EcoPortal were discussed.
Representatives of RA Ministry of Environment and its departments, Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, scientific institutes and American University of Armenia have participated in the discussion.
Mr. Aram Meimaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of Armenia, and Christian Henschel, EU4Sevan Project Team Leader, have delivered welcome remarks.
Mr. Meimaryan emphasized the need to establish a unified environmental data management platform and the legislative framework regulating it. Mr. Henschel spoke about the problems related to the distribution of data on Lake Sevan and its basin and mentioned the need for the Lake Sevan section of the Armenian EcoPortal developed by the project as a unified access point to comprehensive information.
Gayane Shahnazaryan, deputy director of the "ArmHydromet" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment, who is also the national focal point of the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) in Armenia from the side of the Ministry of Environment, presented the principles of the Shared Environmental Information System, the background of the establishment of the EcoPortal in Armenia and the next necessary steps towards its development.
Then, EU4Sevan project advisor Aleksandr Arakelyan presented the goals and objectives of improving Armenian EcoPortal within the framework of the project, after which the experts of the contractor organisation, "Geoinfo" LLC, responsible for the development of the Lake Sevan section of the EcoPortal, presented the components of the platform under the development, the interactive map, and the data flow scheme.
The meeting continued with the discussion with the stakeholder organizations regarding the ensuring of data flows of the Lake Sevan section of EcoPortal, as a result of which agreements were reached for the conducting of separate meetings and data exchange with the data producing organizations.
