“Whatever has happened to the underground basin of Ararat Valley and whatever is currently happening in Sevan is the poor result of business management,” said independent expert Seyran Minasyan at the premiere of “Biblical Disaster” film.

“If there is no water in the upper section of Sevjur River, now when these 100 wells are opened, how much water will remain? All this is done to raise the issue of Lake Sevan in January,” Seyran Minasyan said.

“Annually around 7-8 billion cum freshwater water enables up to 8 million people to live in our 30,000 sq. km. This is our vital territory, but 3 million of us can’t use these 8 billion cum properly. If we take the report of the State Committee on Water Industry for 2013, we can see water loss of 80%, and as achievement they recorded – reduction in water loss from 81.4% to 79.8%, i.e. we have water loss of 80%, but we go and take water from Lake Sevan and Ararat Valley. I have got the impression that a situation is created for people to leave the country, we don’t speak about country, we don’t speak about government, we speak about the situation where people can’t survive even for 5 years. Now I even don’t care for the fish breeding project. After 2-3 tears the quality of lake water won’t be sufficient for to breed salmon fish. In the 60’s we spent billions of dollars for the ecosystem of Lake Sevan, we constructed Arpa-Sevan tunnel, but now we have only one standard – centimeter.” You can watch Seyran Minasyan’s speech in the video.
