Despite the fact that 2014 is the year having the least amount of water as compared with 2008 and 2012, the water amount taken from Lake Sevan in 2014 is less than that of 2008 and 2012.
In 2014 the substantiation for addition water outlets from Lake Sevan is that the underground waters in Ararat Valley had reduced together with the water in Sevjur River, while the lack of water caused deficit in the irrigation systems. Besides, the State Hydrometereological Service of the Ministry for Emergency States informed that the river yields are lower than standards, while the water in reservoirs is little.
Thus, the fullness of Aparan reservoir for 2008 made up 27.93 million m3, 31.81 million m3 for 2012թ, while in 2014 it was 23.7 million m3. The fullness of Azat reservoir was 45.96 million m3 for 2008, 60.57 million m3 for 2012 and 45.2 million m3 for 2014.
It turns out that in such year as 2014 it's possible to take 240 million m3 from Lake Sevan and to ensure irrigation, in this case a question arises why so much water was taken in 2008 and 2012. The reply is evident: the increase in Lake Sevan level was not beneficial for our authorities.
