On  16 June, the riverbed of the Vorotan River was blocked as a result of the landslide in the area adjacent to Halidzor Village, Syunik Region and generated a natural reservoir. The specialists of the Institute of Geophysics and Engineering Seismology after A. Nazarov of NAS RA carried out visual-based examinations on the spot and beat an alarm signal that a collapse of the reservoir dam may occur under the impact of the atmospheric precipitation, activation of landslides and other factors and the accumulated muddy mass can flood the area of Satan Bridge. Besides that, the specialists observed continuous activation of landslides. As Jon Karapetyan, Director of Institute of Geophysics and Engineering Seismology after A. Nazarov of NAS RA, informed EcoLur, both Syunik Regional Municipality and Ministry for Emergency States were informed about the problem. The institute is proposing to carry out complex geophysical examinations on the spot to detect the reasons for landslides and to take anti-slide measures to prevent the collapse of the reservoir dam.
