Administrative Fine Imposed By Inspection Body on Stone Crushing Workshop Administration Not To Solve Problems Raised by Residents

The residents of Gugark Community in Lori Region are again alerting about the damage caused to the operation of the quarry factory located near the village. Back in the beginning of July, the residents beat an alarm signal to EcoLur that the dust emissions and noise from the quarry-gravel factory belonging to "AAB PROJECT" LLC disrupted their normal life. A few days later, RA Nature Protection and Mining Inspection Body visited the factory and found a number of violations. It turned out that the amount of damage caused to the environment as a result of the company's activities amounted to 4,821,760 AMD. As a result of the conducted administrative proceedings, administrative fines in the amount of 200,000 and 150,000 AMD were imposed.

However, mandatory enforcement orders to eliminate violations and to impose administrative fines have not resolved the issue. "Nothing has changed here. Noise has not decreased. On the contrary, they work harder, until 12 and 1 o'clock at night. We understand that they should work during the day, but at least in the evening and at night it should be quiet. The noise of the workshop is unbearably disturbing. The children do not sleep at all,” a Gugark resident said, who is living at a distance of about 300 meters from the workshop. The residents also mentioned that they are ready to compromise, but the company must also consider the opinion of the residents.

"Let them install appropriate filters for air purification. There is more dust on sunny days. The dust of the factory is rising, and our village is on the rise,” they said. According to the residents, after the first alarm signal, they were invited to Vanadzor Social Service office to meet with the company's representatives, but the latter did not show up. "After that, the answer was that there would be serious changes in the plant, but there were no changes," they said.
