The employees of the Ministry for Emergency States (MES) found out during their examinations that a number of water reservoirs in Armenia have a serious problem with keeping water and targetful use with less losses. These problems were found out during the working visit of A. Tovmasyan, Deputy Head of 'Seismic Protection Service' Agency of MES, V. Arzumanyan – Head of Department for Observation Networks and Information at MES, and Chief Specialist V. Khondkaryan at 'Western Protection of Seismic Protection' SNCO of MES, to Geghardalitch in Kotayk Region, Kosh and Agarak in Aragatsotn Region, and Mantash reservoir in Shirak Region.
The main purpose of the specialists' visit was to examine the working state of controlling and measuring devices designed to ensure the seismic security of the dams.
Reminder: The governmental bodies in charge of the preservation and management of the water resources in Armenia blame climate change processes for little water in the country and intend to take more water from Lake Sevan than the statutory amount for five years to mitigate its consequences, while finances will be raised to construct four large reservoirs, Kaps, Vedi, Mastara andYeghvard. But, first of all, the water resources should be used rationally, the current problems in reservoirs and aqueducts should be eliminated to minimize water losses.
