Today, at 10:15 a.m., Garni community residents, Kotayk Region, blocked Garni-Yerevan road with the stones, and were protesting with the posters in their hands. Garni community residents were supported by Goght community residents, which were fighting against the construction of Geghardalitch gravity irrigation project. As of 10:50 a.m., the Kotayk Regional Police arrived at the scene. There were dozens of policemen, and their number was increasing. The cars were accumulated on the road. There were tourist groups, who were curious what was happening and why the road was blocked. Garni community residents were explaining to the policemen, why they had blocked the road, 'We won't allow them to make us slaves in our own country,' Garni community residents told them. Garni community residents were protesting against the implementation of Qaghtsrashen project, which shall take water from the Azat River to Ararat Region. Garni community residents are demanding to take out the heavy machinery out of the Azat Gorge, which continue their operations in the gorge since 16 May.
