“If Teghout had gas, annually 3000 cubic meters of wood will be saved up in Teghout,” expressed his opinion Teghout Community Head Harutyun Meliqsetyan, Lori Region. This opinion published on “Teghout” webpage of EcoLur blog resulted in reply comments.
“Isn’t it possible for “Teghout” CJSC to supply gas to Teghout community in the frames of its social programs? The forest is cut not only to heat houses in winter, but also to open the mine. Whether Teghout residents haven’t had any such proposals?” Arev wrote. In reply to this Teghout residents advised “such proposals were made, but no results yet.”
“Teghout” CJSC has worked out a reforestation program together with Nature Protection and Agriculture Ministries which designs to make reforestation in the territory of 714 ha which is twice as much as the territory subject to felling (357 ha) in the frames of Teghout copper and molybdenum mine development. Nevertheless, the problem of gas supply which can protect the forest from double felling to a certain extent is not displayed on the official webpage of “Teghout” CJSC.
