The US Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern visited the honey market in Teghout and in his interview with EcoLur commented on the options to run “green” economy in the places where open pit mining is implemented, “I am not here to tell the Government of Armenia where to put mines and where not to put mines, but what I can say is we are trying, the US, as a partner of Armenia, is trying to work with the Government, with the civil societies and the communities, like the Mayor, to make the best use of the Armenian resources, to make the best use of Armenia’s land in an environmentally friendly way, so that everybody in the community benefits from whatever the economic activity is in the region, that’s our goal and that’s what we are trying to be helpful,” the Ambassador said.
