RA Health and Labor Inspection found deviations of standards in 2 samples of drinking water in Taronik Community, Armavir Region, and in one of 6 samples of potable water in Hayanist Community, Ararat Region.
The inspection body also found that 2 artesian wells providing water supply in Artashar Community, Armavir Region, have no sanitary protection zones. The inspection body did not find any problems in Sayat Nova Community, as Head of Inspection Body Hakob Avagyan said in his letter in response to EcoLur's inquiry.
Reminder: EcoLur has sent a letter to Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan on the water problems existing in Sayat Nova and Hayanist communities in Ararat Region and Artashar and Taronik communities in Armavir Region. Attached to the letter are four application-petitions by the residents of the aforementioned communities on the restitution of their violated right to water.
Based on the letters, RA Health and Labor Inspection initiated administrative proceedings in the communities, informing EcoLur about the findings. The letter of the head of the inspection body states: “Artashar Community in Armavir Region: 2 artesian wells do not have sanitary protection zones. Currently construction work on sanitary protection zones is in progress. No deviations were found in the three drinking water samples. Administrative proceedings are planned to be instigated.
Taronik community of Armavir marz, due to lack of water for drinking purposes, is given 1 hour daily for domestic purposes due to the basence of water usage permit by the Ministry of Nature Protection. In 2 samples of drinking water, deviations were recorded by microbiological indices. The administrative proceedings instituted were dismissed on the ground of lack of administrative offense.
Sayat Nova Community in Ararat Region - water supply is 24 hours a day. Four microbiological deviations were detected in 4 samples of drinking water sampled for laboratory examination. The administrative proceedings were dismissed on the ground of lack of administrative offense.
Hayanist community in Ararat Rrgion - 1 out of 6 samples of sampled drinking water reported standard deviations. The administrative proceedings were dismissed on the ground of lack of administrative offense.
EcoLur has studied the water issues of the above mentioned communities within the frames of “Protect Your Right to Water” project.
