On July 2, 2021, the employees of kindergartens in Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan sent their children home, telling their parents that the drinking water was poisoned. The residents of the administrative district beat an alarm signal to "EcoLur" in this regard.
EcoLur contacted Veolia Water CJSC spokesperson Murad Sargsyan for clarification on possible water poisoning. He denied that the water was toxic, noting that the water had been tested in a laboratory, which posed no qualitative danger to human health. "There is no need to worry at this time. Just rust particles were noticed. It could be a hidden accident somewhere," he said. Specialists are currently inspecting the water line in Qanaqer-Zeytun (ed. from Katnaghbyur) and the distribution network to find out where the accident may have taken place.
Hripsime Khachatryan, spokeswoman for Health Ministry, told EcoLur that their specialists also work in Qanaqer-Zeytun. "Once it is clear whether or not the alarm is true, we will disseminate a statement," she said.
