Recently, photos of Yerevan Lake polluted with polyethylene and plastic went viral on the Armenian domain of Facebook.
Responding to the post, the Environment Ministry informs that Yerevan Lake cleaning program has been included in RA state budget for 2022 and will be implemented next year.
The environmental program "Cleaning of Shores of Yerevan Lake and Hrazdan River" developed by Yerevan Municipality was agreed with the budget of 60.4 million AMD. The total amount of the program is about 113 million AMD. The event is already included in the framework of "Implementation of Environmental Programs in Communities" project within RA draft law "On State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2022", which will commence in 2022. The main mail of the project is to improve the ecological condition of Yerevan Lake and Hrazdan gorge by turning it into a recreational zone that meets the requirements set by RA legislation,” the press release says.
