New study, new facts about Sevan Basin: researchers at the Institute of Geological Sciences have studied and confirmed the presence of microbialites or sanites in the littoral and underground parts of the lake. The scientific works are supervised by Lilit Sahakyan. Sanites are sedimentary formations formed over several thousand years by the activity of cyanobacteria or blue-green algae.
