

An institutional change aimed at integrating the management functions of water and agricultural land is planned in Armenia. The Water Committee will be renamed Land and Water Committee and will be transferred from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure to the jurisdiction of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
On October 1, the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved a package of draft legislative amendments to this effect. From Water Management to Efficient Land Use
The integration of water and land management functions is viewed as an important component of state policy aimed at agricultural development. The development of irrigation infrastructure, efficient allocation of water resources, and targeted use of land are interconnected issues whose resolution requires a coordinated approach.
What Will Change in Management System?

At this stage, a clear delineation of powers among the different government bodies will also be crucial. In particular, it will be important to clarify how functions related to water resource management, operation of water systems, land monitoring, and the efficient use of agricultural land will be allocated.
