In regard with the article entitled ““Yerevan Jur” CJSC Responsible for Dumps of Wine Factory into Hrazdan River” published by EcoLur on 25 June, “Yerevan Jur” CJSC has dispatched a statement, which particularly says, “The article complied with the reality only partially. Yes, a dump of wastes from the wine factory occurred into the Hrazdan River; nevertheless, this was not conditioned by the non-performance of obligations by our company. The problem is the sewage flows into several sections of the Hrazdan River due to drawbacks of the sewage system and environmental problems are created. For the elimination of this problem in 2006 “Yerevan Jur” CJSC put into service the system and sewage discharges into the river in 11 sections are eliminated, including the section in the gorge next to Yerevan wine and brandy factory.”

In 2009 sewage drainage system was constructed from the Hrazdan River to old Ejmiadzin highway with a length of over 1200 running meters which ensured the removal of the factory discharges into the sewage drainage system on the right bank of the Hrazdan River. But the villagers illegally connected to the system and the overload on the system increased. The people started using it as refuse bins. Then congestions appeared, which caused the discharge at the wine factory, but it’s not excluded the company will have to construct a new drainage system,” the statement says.
