The cause of the disastrous situation in the artesian basin of Ararat Valley is pumps, as “Engineer-Geologist” Company Director Ruben Yadoyan thinks, who headed the studies of Ararat artesian basin from 1968 to 1974. ‘They were applauding and were happy for the pumps from America, now see what has happened. Pumping completely disturbed the balance of the artesian basin. Fish breeding was not allowed at all: freshwater should be used with great carefulness and economically,’ Ruben Yadoyan said in his interview with EcoLur.
Yerevan uses three times as much water as the villages, which sometimes don’t have any water. All the freshwater in Armenia should be combined in one system, which is for future, but now we should reflect on it.’ Ruben Yadoyan said if he is given any opportunity, he can change the situation, to recover artesian basin balance and to calculate damage caused to people.
