Last year Vladimir Mkrtchyan, a resident of Sgharshik region, Kapan, applied to Syunik Branch of the Association of Young Lawyers and said he incurred damages in the amount of 3000 trout fish because of the breakdown emissions of “Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine” CJSC.

Afterwards the residents submitted a letter to the Center of Interests Protection in Syunik where they asked to raise the issue about drinking water quality as wastes are dumped and get mixed with water.

Human rights organizations held a press-conference where they advised already possessing the results of chemical-toxicological analysis and the commission at the Syunik Regional Administration is now examining the results.

Under the press release disseminated by the Center, all this allows us to speak about “violation of human rights and exceeding one’s official authorities and presence of corruption risks in state bodies.”
