On 31 May, the 'Center for Developing Jermuk' NGO held public discussions on the issue of Amoulsar gold mine opencast development impact on water resources. Geoteam Company, the project implementer, independent experts and NGOs also took part in the discussion.
Before publishing the materials of the discussion, we would like to present 'Water Basin of Amoulsar' video reel. In the mid of April EcoLur working group visited the area of Amoulsar drainage area, Vorotan and Arpa Rivers. The shot material shows how the whole Amoulsar mountain was covered with brooks formed due to snow melting. The water finds itself in two large water reservoirs – Spandaryan and Kechout. The whole basin is interconnected with natural and artificial aqueducts. We think that the risks of waste pollution is characteristic to the whole basin, which must definitely be reflected in the project submitted for EIA.
