The State Environmental Inspection of Nature Protection Ministry carried out examination based on EcoLur’s alarm signal about the dumps of the wine factory into the Hrazdan River. On 24 June the Chief Inspector of Environmental Inspection Garnik Manukyan together with EcoLur’s working group, wine factory representative and his assistant head for the scene. Under the conclusion of the chief inspection, the dumps really poison the river, but “Yerevan Jur” should be blamed for this. “It’s “Yerevan Jur” Company that bears responsibility for this territory. The valve of the pipeline is twisted off and one or two bolts keep it. It’s evidently a breakdown. We will apply to “Yerevan Jur” Company to eliminate this breakdown and we will follow up the case,” Garnik Manukyan said. The wine factory representative showed us the agreement which said that the factory pays 25 AMD for one liter of water to “Yerevan Jur” CJSC. The logic is as follows: the combine may demand from “Yerevan Jur” CJSC to perform its obligations, but the question is whether the demand will be fulfilled. The invited specialist from Nature Protection Ministry thinks the problem is deeper. “The pipes are narrow and not designed for large volumes. Now one pipe had the load not only from the wine factory, but also other recently constructed objects,” the specialist said.
If it’s like that this problem will arise again and again, if “Yerevan Jur” Company doesn’t solve it drastically at least at the expense of the loan of 26 million USD recently allotted by the French Government to Armenia.
