Cement Plant Operating in Aragatsavan to Double Its Production Capacity to 200,000 Tonnes of Cement Annually

On May 22, 2026, the second public hearing on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the cement production expansion project submitted by *ARTCEMENT LLC was held at the office of the administrative head of Aragatsavan settlement, Talin Municipality, Aragatsotn Region.

 

The land plot of the existing cement production facility covers an area of 8,300 square meters. The project envisages the expansion of the production facility. Together with the existing production unit, the expanded facility will ensure a total cement production capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year. The current production capacity is 100,000 tonnes per year.

 

According to the minutes of the public hearing, K. Harutyunyan, an expert from Environmental Impact Assessment and Expertise Center SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, presented the legal framework governing the process and emphasized that the comments and recommendations received regarding the project had been taken into consideration and incorporated into the revised EIA report.

 

He noted that the project falls under Category A activities and is therefore subject to an 80-day expert review process, after which a final conclusion will be issued.
