New Road Construction To Make Yerevan Air Pollution Have New Ranges

EcoLur

The construction of the highway joining Tsovakal Isakov Avenue and Arshakunyats Avenue will make Yerevan air more polluted. As the project EIA says, during the construction the following emissions will be present: dust - 111.9 tons/year, carbon dioxide - 13.85 tons/year, nitric oxide – 1.13 tons/year, carbohydrates – 27 tons/year, sulfur anhydride – 0.95 tons/year, solid particles  - 0.69 tons/year. The document says that these emissions are within permissible standards, but EcoLur’s Ecological Risk Model shows that the concentration of the dust to be emitted into the atmosphere will cause a disastrous situation.

In the frames of the project 30 trees will be felled, but the project doesn’t say which trees and where. It also doesn’t say exactly when the construction works will be launched and which company will be in charge of them. It says the duration of the construction works is 18 months. The length of the highway is 1.610 km. The public hearings of the highway joining Tsovakal Isakov Avenue and Arshakunyats Avenue will be held  at “Yerevan Nakhagits” CJSC, 1-3 P. Buzand St., at 12:00 on 19 November.
