

"Yellow snowdrop" flower named Sternbergia Fischer red-listed in Armenia is being sold again in the streets of the capital.
RA Environment Ministry warns that a fine is established by the law of the Republic of Armenia for the destruction or collection of red-listed plants. In particular, the fine for each unit (piece) of Sternbergia Fischer plant in critical condition is 25,000 AMD, and in case of exceeding 200,000 AMD, criminal liability may be imposed.
Sternbergia Fischer is a critically endangered species. It was included in the first edition of the Red Book of Armenia as an extinct species, it is also included in Annex 2 to the CITES Convention.
In Armenia it is found only in Zangezur floristic region, near Nerqin Vachagan village.
