The calculation of living resources in Lake Sevan was carried out by the Scientific Center for Zoology and Hydroecology of National Academy of Sciences within the framework of an agreement signed with Environment Ministry. The director of the center Bardukh Gabrielyan told "EcoLur" that the reasons for the increase in fish stocks were the coronavirus outbreak in 2020 and the 44-day-long war.

"During the epidemic, there were certain restrictions on access to Lake Sevan. On the other hand, the war also affected. All this has reduced the pressure on the fish population, which has led to a large school of the young fish next year increased at the expense of small fish. In July-October 2021, about 4,000 tons of fish were caught," he said.

In 2020, the trout stock was in the range of 1-1.5 tons. According to expert estimates, the stocks of trout in 2021 amounted to 4.82 tons. Crawfish stocks continued to decline in 2021. In 2021, those reserves amounted to only 78 tons compared to 100 tons in 2020.
