June 5 is World Environment Day
On June 5, the world celebrates World Environment Day. In 1972  the UN General Assembly announced June 5 as the World Environment Day, which became one of the important holidays in the international environmental calendar and is celebrated annually in over a hundred countries. In the same year, the Stockholm conference of heads of various states created a special organization - the United Nations Environment Program /UNEP/. In 2004 since June 5 is also celebrated as the Day of the Environmentalist in Armenia.

In 2024 World Environment Day is dedicated to restoring land, stopping the process of desertification and increasing resistance to drought inder the slogan: "Our planet is our future. We are the generation of restoration".

In 2024, the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification is coming to an end. This year, Saudi Arabia is the host country for the day's events. In 2024 December 2-13, the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification will be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

A video clip was published on the official website of World Environment Day , calling on all humanity to come together to restore the Earth's land for future generations.
